Middle Aged

There are instances in which St. Sebastian is portrayed far from the ideal. The Renaissance, High Renaissance or Mannerist model of physical perfection gives way to a paunchy representation as portrayed by Hendrick Goltzius (1590) (See: Figure 206), or decidedly middle aged as seen in Albrecht Durer's 1501 version (See: Figure 179), matched with the 1507 Hans Baldung Grien saint (See: Figure 154).
