2) The most frequently employed situation in the saint's life is when St. Sebastian is recumbent is when he is tended by St. Irene, or infrequently and angel. Generally, he is found in a semi-recumbent position, often supported the St. Irene--e.g. as seen in the works of Francisco Giovanni Barbieri (called Il Guercino) (1617 ) (See: Figure 88); Georges de la Tour (c. 1649) (See: Figure 89); Jan Hermansz van Biljert (1624 ) (See: Figure 90); Pietro Rotari (1725) (See: Figure 91); Eugène Delacroix (1836) (See: Figure 92); Tanzio da Varallo (1620) (See: Figure 93); Dirck van Baburen aka Theodore van Baburen (1622) (See: Figure 94); Matthias Stomer (1640) (See: Figure 95); Antonio Bellucci (1692+) (See: Figure 96); or supported by angel rather than St. Irene: G. Barbieri aka Guercino(1617) (See: Figure 97); and Jacques Blanchard (1636) (See: Figure 98).
